Schaefer, Paul. DEFENDING THE WILDERNESS: THE ADIRONDACK WRITINGS OF PAUL SCHAEFER. Syracuse: Syracuse University Press, 1989. 1st edition. 251 pp., printed wrappers. Schaefer spent most of his adult life trying to preserve wilderness in the Adirondack Park, working with state legislators on his own and as a member (and founder) of several conservation organizations. This volume, published late in his life, collected many of his important writings, and is essential to understanding the conservation movement in the Adirondack Park. Slight uneven sunning to the front cover, but a clean and very good copy.
