The

Lockhart Mountain Boys

Bluegrass Music from Northern New York

.

2008 ABL Roundup, Galway. Photo by Ed Spires

The Lockhart Mountain Boys have been around for a few years, but a big change occurred in the fall of 2007 with a new band lineup. The original members - Dick Sausville on guitar, Mac Petrequin on banjo, and Bob Zink on bass - were joined by Bill Healy on mandolin and Barry Weinstein on fiddle (who has since left the band). After a couple private engagements, they entered a recording studio to make their first CD, a mix of traditional and original songs. This first CD - "Down from the Mountain" - was recorded in November of 2007, and is available at this web site as well as at their shows. Our summer schedule includes performances in the towns of Thurman and Schroon Lake, the Washington County Fair, the Schagticoke Fair, and the Thurman Fiddlers Jamboree. Check this page often for additions to their schedule.

Our CD is here:

Our first CD, Down Off the Mountain, is now available! The songs are: Down Yonder, I'm Going Back to Old Kentucky, Cabin of the Queen, Little Cabin Home on the Hill, Billy in the Lowground, Truck Driving Man, Say, Won't You be Mine, My Little Old Armchair, Listen to the Mockingbird, Nathan's Homecoming, Big Sandy River, and I'll Fly Away. You can buy a copy (or two or three) at any of our shows, at Bibliomania (P.O. Box 106, Schenectady, NY 12301), or right here on this website. The price is $10.00 (+ $3.00 shipping). Order it here!

Down Off the Mountain CD:   $10.00

The Lockhart Mountain Boys are:

Dick Sausville - guitar, vocals.

Dick has spent decades performing bluegrass and country music in the northeast and in Florida. He can also write a good song, and you might also find a mandolin in his hands now and then. In the colder months he travels to Florida, where you will find him playing with Highway 41 Bluegrass.

Mac Petrequin - banjo and resonator guitar, vocals.

Mac has been part of the bluegrass scene for years as the bass player in Burnt Hills Bluegrass, and he also plays banjo in the progressive band Out of the Bluegrass (formerly Scioto Furnace). He plays banjo and resonator guitar, and is known to contribute some well-crafted songs to the band.

Bob Zink - bass, vocals.

Bob's solid bass playing anchors the band. He is frequently seen playing in many other local bands as well. Bob is also a noted stringed instrument repair person, and can set up your bass or fiddle for the best sound and playability.

Bill Healy - mandolin, guitar, vocals.

Bill has spent more than four decades playing and performing music, most recently as a member of the String Dusters. Although he plays almost any instrument with strings, he is usually playing mandolin in this band. That doesn't mean you won't see him with a guitar or banjo once in a while, however.

Nick Barr - fiddle

Well-known musician and radio personality Nick Barr will be joining the band on fiddle for many shows this summer.
