A rather caustic note giving his views on signing books for collectors, receiving mail from New Yorkers with postage due, and the habit of sending his correspondence to a past publisher (not his current one) rather than directly to the author. In part: "It seems to me that collectors of autographed volumes should be as humane as other people. The prospect of opening large packages of books signing same, and re-wrapping and mailing out again does not delight the author of same. I cannot imagine anything less agreeable than receiving books written long ago."  Not a note one would like to receive, but an interesting one to own. Near fine.
