Church,  Sanford Elias   (1815-1880).  Handwritten note signed by jurist and politician Church. He was considered a jurist in the school of William L Marcy and Silas Wright, known for his honesty and conservatism. He also served as a member of the state assembly, lieutenant-governor, state comptroller, and a member of the state constitutional convention of 1867 among other offices. ALS, 1 p., April 6, 1842. To William Huntington, chairman of the committee of commerce, concerning the nomination of William Butler to the committee.   Clean and in very good condition; with minor wear and wrinkling; a nice autograph in a bold hand.
