65.00

Cole, Timothy   (1852-1931). Wood engraver, noted for his reproductions of the works of the old masters and other subjects.  ALS, 1 p., Poughkeepsie, NY, July 7, 1911. 10" x 6.5", folded to 5" x 6.5". Commenting on the weather:  "My dear Whittle:  I enclose the declaration concerning the proofs... The heat here has been nearly prostrating, so far as working on my block went,.....It did not prevent me however from working on the farm as early as 430 a.m. and again in the evening - five miles there and back and two or three hours digging. I tried it in the middle of the day but it was worse than slavery,..."  A quite readable letter. Clean and near fine.
